I don’t do climbing mountains, I mean what’s the point you spend all that time going up just to come back down to where you started. I prefer more of an expedition where you go from a to b and explore along the way. However this July I was persuaded to join my Dad and brother on a jaunt up Ben Nevis. I say jaunt, it was a pretty hard climb despite there being a path all the way up – well apart from where it got lost in the snow anyway.
However we all made it to the top, and looking back I am pretty glad I did it, as I proved to myself I still have that grit and determination in me that has been somewhat dormant since I stopped swimming. I may have struggled to walk for the next couple of days but as the saying goes pain is temporary but pride is forever.
